Takayama-sha Sericulture School

Takayama-sha Sericulture School

Chogoro Takayama perfected the modern sericultural technique called seion-iku, featuring ventilation and temperature control. In the next year, Takayama-sha was established as a specialized school for sericulture and successfully spread modern technology throughout Japan and overseas. As a result, the method became standard for modern sericultural technology. The mainhouse was renovated as the ideal farmhouse for the seion-iku method in 1891 and was used as a practical school.
