Nagai Konshuro found a silkworm-raising method actively using fire, improved it in various ways and established the Nagai Sericulture Method.
Around 1888, the year after Konshuro passed away, his wife Ito, who persevered to carry out his intention, built this house as a school laboratory house to teach the Nagai Sericulture Method. She taught sericulture techniques here to as many as 1,500 people.
